08 Sep Steelers Season Spread: Pierogies & Kielbasa from Kickoff to Final Whistle
Football season is back in Pittsburgh, and that means plenty of chances to get friends and family together to watch the Steelers.
Some games are Sunday afternoons. Others are at night or during the week. The schedule changes, the crowd changes, and as the season moves into colder weather, the kind of food people want changes too.
The easiest part can be the menu.
At LVIV European Kitchen, our catering menu gives you plenty of ways to put together a game-day spread without spending the entire game in the kitchen. Start with Pittsburgh favorites like pierogies and kielbasa, add wings or chicken strips for the traditional football crowd, and fill out the table with hot sides, salads, party hoagies, and dessert.
Let’s build a spread everyone can help themselves to from kickoff to the final whistle.

Start With the Pierogies
For a Pittsburgh game-day table, pierogies are an easy place to start.
Our Potato Cheese Pierogies are available by the half pan or full pan and can be served with buttered onions.
They work as an appetizer, a side, or part of the main meal. Pair them with Kielbasa and you already have the foundation of a hearty Pittsburgh football spread.
Add the Game-Day Classics
Not everybody at the party wants comfort food..
That is where Jumbo Chicken Wings and Chicken Strips come in.
Both are easy additions for a mixed crowd and work particularly well when you have kids, teenagers, or guests who want familiar game-day food alongside the Eastern European dishes.
A simple table could include:
- Potato Cheese Pierogies with onions
- Kielbasa
- Jumbo Chicken Wings
- Chicken Strips
Put everything out buffet-style and let people build their own plates.

Make It a Full Comfort-Food Dinner
For a longer game or a bigger gathering, add a few dishes that turn the spread into a complete meal.
Haluski is a natural partner for pierogies and kielbasa, with tender noodles and cabbage that fit right into a traditional Eastern European menu.
Stuffed Cabbage is another hearty option, especially when the weather gets colder.
You can also add Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, Sauerkraut, Green Beans, or Corn to round out the table.
This is where game-day catering becomes useful. Instead of preparing five or six separate dishes at home, you order a combination that already works together.
Don’t Forget the Meatballs
Meatballs are one of those party foods that disappear quickly.
LVIV offers Meatballs with Gravy as well as Meatballs with Sauce, so you can choose whichever works better with the rest of your menu.
They are easy to serve, easy to portion, and work well when guests are eating at different times throughout the game.
For a cold-weather gathering, try a spread of:
- Pierogies
- Kielbasa
- Meatballs with Gravy
- Mashed Potatoes
- Green Beans
That is football food that can easily double as dinner.
Give the Table Something Fresh
Don’t forget a pan of Green Salad will give the guests something fresh alongside the heavier dishes.
Green beans and corn can also help balance out a table built around pierogies, kielbasa, meatballs, and mashed potatoes..
For a larger gathering, offering a few lighter sides makes it easier for guests to put together the plate they actually want.

Bring in the Party Hoagies
Then there are the games when more people show up than expected.
For those, just add a 3-foot or 6-foot Party Hoagie.
LVIV can also prepare a Large Hoagie Ring or Meat and Cheese Trays, giving you easy cold options to serve alongside the hot dishes.
These work particularly well for a long watch party because you don’t have to serve everything all at once.
Put the hot food out for the main meal and leave the hoagie, meat, and cheese available for anyone who gets hungry again later on.
Half Pan or Full Pan?
One of the easiest parts of ordering game-day catering is choosing the pan size based on your crowd.
Half pans generally serve approximately 8–10 people.
Full pans generally serve approximately 16–20 people.
That makes it easy to scale the same basic menu up or down.
For a smaller gathering, you might choose half pans of pierogies and kielbasa with a side.
For a larger watch party, move up to full pans and add wings, haluski, stuffed cabbage, or pasta.
You can also mix sizes. If everybody loves pierogies but only a few people want sauerkraut, there is no reason every dish has to be ordered in the same amount.

Keep that easy too.
LVIV offers Cannoli, Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, and Chocolate Chip Cookies that can be added to your order.
Put out a dessert tray later in the game with coffee or hot tea and you have taken the spread all the way from kickoff through the final whistle.
